Setting Up Your Faith Profile

How the Faith Profile personalizes Berea to your theological tradition.

3 min read

Your Faith Profile tells Berea about your theological background so the app can tailor its responses to your tradition. A Baptist and a Catholic will hear the same sermon very differently — Berea's summaries and interpretations should reflect that.

What the Faith Profile includes

  • Denomination — Choose from 40+ denominations, from Baptist to Orthodox to non-denominational.
  • Faith journey — A short conversation with the app that captures where you are spiritually — new believer, lifelong churchgoer, etc.
  • Statement of Faith — Upload a PDF or paste text from your church's doctrinal statement to give Berea the most precise theological context possible.

How it affects the app

The Faith Profile influences several parts of Berea:

  • Summaries use denominational language (e.g., "Communion" vs. "Eucharist").
  • Interpretations of difficult passages are filtered through your tradition's theological lens.
  • Cross-references draw on books and passages your tradition emphasizes.
  • The Sermon Chat answers questions in a way consistent with your church's teaching.

Setting it up

  1. 1Tap the profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.
  2. 2Select Faith Profile.
  3. 3Choose your denomination from the list. If yours isn't listed, choose the closest option or "Non-denominational."
  4. 4Complete the short faith journey conversation — this takes about two minutes.
  5. 5Optionally, upload your church's Statement of Faith for the most personalized experience.

Tip

You can update your Faith Profile at any time. If you change churches or denominations, update the profile and Berea's responses will adjust going forward.
