Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Berea mobile application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Berea is a mobile application that provides AI-powered sermon transcription, summarization, prayer management, study tools, devotionals, and community features for Christians. The App is designed to help users capture, understand, and retain teachings from sermons, Bible studies, and other faith-based content.

Subscriptions and Billing

Berea offers optional premium features through auto-renewable subscriptions. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the following terms:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same rate
• You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your Apple ID account settings after purchase
• Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription
• Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period

Refund requests must be directed to Apple through their standard refund process. We do not process refunds directly.

User Accounts

You may use the App in local-only mode without an account. To access cloud sync, community features, and sharing capabilities, you must create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google, or email registration. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Share content that is abusive, harmful, or inappropriate within community features
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks
• Use the App to distribute spam or unsolicited content

Community Guidelines

When participating in Berea communities, you agree to:

• Treat all community members with respect and Christian charity
• Share only content that is appropriate for a faith-based community
• Not post content that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or violent
• Not use communities for commercial solicitation, spam, or self-promotion unrelated to faith
• Respect the privacy of other community members and not share their personal information
• Report content that violates these guidelines to community administrators or to us

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines. Community administrators may also set additional rules for their communities.

Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within the App, including recordings, transcripts, notes, prayers, and any other user-generated content. By using cloud sync or sharing features, you grant us a limited license to store and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the App's services.

AI-Generated Content

The App uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries, quizzes, cross-references, theological interpretations, and other study materials. This content is provided for informational and educational purposes only. AI-generated content should not be considered authoritative theological guidance. Always consult your pastor, church leadership, or trusted theological resources for matters of doctrine and faith.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including Deepgram (transcription), OpenAI (AI features), and Apple (authentication). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

Intellectual Property

The Berea name, logo, and App design are our intellectual property. You may not use our branding without written permission. The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Berea and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Copyright and DMCA

We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content available through the App infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA takedown notice to legal@berea.cc with: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) identification of the infringing material, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement of good faith belief, and (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of recordings, or inaccuracies in AI-generated content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases, but locally stored data remains on your device.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify you of material changes through the App.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation.

If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
